Linear Backups Now Use Fewer Units for Larger Workspaces

Linear workspace backups now cost fewer units as a team grows, under Cloudback's new unit tiers. The price per unit is unchanged on every plan. What changed is how many units a workspace uses, and that number never goes up. Existing Linear workspaces already carry the new, lower count. The sizes below show what that works out to in units and dollars.

New unit tiers for Linear workspace members

Under the new tiers, the first 25 members of a Linear workspace count as 2 units each, and every member after that counts as 1 unit each, with a 2-unit minimum per workspace. App users (bots and integrations) and suspended members don't count at all.

The effect scales with team size. Units are bought in multiples of a single plan: Basic is 10 units at $10/mo, Team is 100 units at $75, and Enterprise is 1,000 units at $500. The monthly cost is the smallest multiple that covers a workspace:

• 10 members: 20 units, $20/mo (was $30)

• 25 members: 50 units, $50/mo (was $75)

• 50 members: 75 units, $75/mo (was $225)

• 75 members: 100 units, $75/mo (was $300)

• 100 members: 125 units, $130/mo (was $450)

Each of those plans also comes in a pay-as-you-go version: the same included units, plus a per-unit charge for anything beyond them. That can cost less than buying a second full plan when a workspace lands between sizes. Units can be shared across connected accounts and platforms, so a Linear workspace can draw on the same pool as your repositories.

Cloudback has backed up Linear workspaces since Linear backup and restore launched in March 2026.

Existing workspaces already show the new count

Unit counts on existing Linear workspaces already reflect the new tiers, and there's nothing to reconnect. If a workspace isn't scheduled for automated backups yet, set its schedule in the dashboard - the Schedule column on the workspace list shows which ones already have one. Cloudback rechecks your member count on every successful backup, so the total follows the team as people join and leave.

This change is specific to Linear. Unit rules for GitHub, GitLab, and Azure DevOps backups are unchanged.
